Google has rolled out Android 16 Beta 2.1, bringing a set of important bug fixes and performance improvements. This update is part of the ongoing beta program, allowing developers and enthusiasts to test new features and refinements ahead of the official release. While it doesn’t introduce major changes, it aims to address stability issues and optimize user experience.
The update primarily focuses on fixing app crashes, improving battery management, and resolving UI glitches. Some users had reported problems with network connectivity, particularly Wi-Fi and mobile data drops, which Google has worked on in this release. Additionally, Bluetooth pairing and audio playback have received minor tweaks to enhance stability.
Users already enrolled in the Android Beta Program will receive the update over the air (OTA). To check manually, navigate to Settings > System > Software Update and tap Check for Updates. If available, the update can be downloaded and installed right away. Those who are not part of the beta program but want to test Android 16 can sign up through Google’s official Android Beta website.
To try out Android 16 Beta 2, you can enroll a supported Google Pixel phone — Pixel 6 series and newer — in the Android Beta Program here.
Here’s what Google’s official Android 16 Beta 2.1 release notes say about the changes:

Future beta versions are likely to introduce additional improvements, security enhancements, and new features. For now, Beta 2.1 is another step toward ensuring a smooth and polished final release.
